Troopers responded to the crash at 11:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, a state police spokesperson said. It happened on the northbound outer highway north of Exit 7 near milepost 54.4.

Investigators said the crash involved two tractor-trailers, a transit bus, a flatbed truck, a box truck, and a transit van. There were "non-life-threatening injuries" reported but troopers didn't say how many people were injured.

NJDOT said two of the outer highway's three lanes were closed near the crash scene. A nearby camera showed northbound traffic moving very slowly at around 1 p.m.

The crash caused northbound delays of about 3 1/2 miles on the inner highway and 1 1/2 miles on the outer highway, according to the state Department of Transportation. Traffic returned to normal as of 4:45 p.m.

The crash remained under investigation.
